Missing Pages

Well the FFIN Team have reached the end of the Autumn creation rehearsals and I think we were all sad to be leaving the work for a little while. It has been such a pleasure working with Sue and the other dancers and I feel very proud of the work that we have created.

This week has been very tough. We were all very aware that Friday was looming and we needed to finish the piece. I think we all struggled with trying to accept that the piece would not be perfect on the first run through as we all want to do the work justice immediately.

I have found it difficult to not over-do the movement. When we watched back the films of the work we noticed that the more effort we put into it the more complicated the work looked which isn’t what we wanted to do. The story of Missing Pages is simple.  We have had to work at finding the right balance of energy in each of the sections and learning when we need to make things simplier and when we can afford to exert more energy. It is a precise balance, especially as nearly all the sections contain intricate parterning skills, if we approach things with different energies we will throw one another off.

We look forward now to taking this further and sharing it with our audiences.
