Well into the creative period now and some pretty hard-core and rigorous counting going on in the studio. The Ravel Sonata for Violin and Cello is sumptuous! It’s languid and classy and rich in visualisation.
At the moment we are working on the first movement – Allegro – with a series of solos for the dancers, today we have worked on the musical dynamics of the separate figures in the score. The dancers have been brilliant, taking on the lyricism of the 2 stringed instruments matching with movement qualities which are equally as beautiful.
I am now at the point where I can see the work in my mind’s eye as a finished production and that excites me very much.
Tomorrow we are planning to run and film 3 movements, personally I am between nervous and exhilerated at the prospect – a great way to end our second week of studio time,
