August is traditionally a reasonably quiet time for me, spent in the office, planning schedules and booking tour venues, but this year that was totally blown out of the window!
We started the second part of our touring season with our performances at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh and then went on to tour for a week in Germany, both of which came about as invitations by promoters who had seen our show during the spring touring season.
The week in Germany was a life-changing experience for me, both on a professional level and also a personal one. Seeing the company grow from a small one-off project for Resolution to one that can sustain itself and perform work of world class standard is heart warming. Things don’t get much better than spending time with dance icons Gary Lambert, Ben Craft and Fred Gehrig and being the guest of Princess Heide von Hohenzollern at her wonderfull castle in the Rhine. Such an incredible time was had by all.
From an office in my spare bedroom, to company in residence, to our own suite of offices in the last 8 years is a legacy to the support and proficiency of our staff and volunteers.
I am very much looking forward to next season when we get back in the studio making our new works, and seeing what 2013 brings to FFIN DANCE.
Thanks to our patrons, our Board, our volunteers, our dancers and collaborators, and of course to you all for following and supporting us and taking FFIN DANCE into Europe! Hope you stay with us for another exciting season…
