Morning all 🙂 and what a glorious morning it is. Yesterday saw our first performance of our double bill platform, alongside beautiful solos by Fred Gehrig and Ben Craft. It was most overwhelming to see how large an audience was present, although they were very warm in their reception and seemed to thoroughly enjoy all of the performances with copious amounts of clapping. Definitely not used to having three bows, I always feel one is plenty and found myself feeling very shy having to return for more but the audience were very welcoming so that was lovely.
Five dances felt incredibly intimate and atmospheric, and I felt that we all achieved a new level of togetherness as a company. I really enjoy performing alongside Megan and Effie and we all seemed to really bounce off and tune in to each others’ energy
Synapsequence felt very different. Although not as intimate, it felt rather hypnotic and gutsy. You wanted the audience to feel the energy and fully emerge themselves into the movement and musical structure. You really want the drive and confidence to shine through. Parts of the piece didn’t go as well  as they have done in the past, with some going slightly awry for the first time. It’s a shame and we often really put ourselves down (myself especially) but it’s very important to keep hold of the positive moments and to learn from the things that were weaker so that we grow each time and truly connect with other to carry the whole group through as one unit. That is something that Gary has passed onto all of us as performers, and it’s something we always try to work on. We are a ‘company’ after all, and without each others’ support then what would we be?
Getting ready now for performance number 2. See you on the other side………
Mike 🙂
