Spring tour has come to an end and it was lovely to perform the final leg of this tour at our home in The Met Theatre in Abertillery.
The Met is a very nice venue to perform in. The facilities are good and we are well supported by our Ffin Faktry participants. We were able to teach workshops within our Ffin community which is something that I throughly enjoy doing. I always feel privelleged by how many workshop participants that we have and amazed at how high a standard the participants are. It’s a very rewarding experience giving something back to the community that started off my contemporary dance journey.
The performance at The Met saw us welcoming back Catrin Lewis who picked up her role in Synapsequence and also Platform 4 who once again played beautifully for Five Dances. Darren Mears joined us too on his work placement from the University of Doncaster. It was so lovely to work and dance with Catrin as she brings a lot of energy and personality to the company. I was also pleased that Darren spent his work placement with us and I hope that he gained a lot working and observing us.
As well as rehearsing and teaching, the company began filming for our documentary. Alice Ridding from 3VTV came in to spend time filming the company over 2 days and interviewing myself. This was quite a strange experience for me but a thoroughly enjoyable one at that!
At the end of the tour I like to be able to sit down and look back at the performances on video and through my notebooks looking at things that I had jotted down. I then write a mini summary of everything that I think I’ve learned that season and how I can try and push that further for next season or for the next project.
I’m very much looking forward to the second leg of touring during August, performing in Edinburgh, Germany and Gloucester, and performing our double bill in new theatres and spaces and seeing what outcomes and challenges we face.
